Hello. My name is Katiria Concepcion and I am a Photographer based out of Boston Ma. My work is very much inspired by fashion, music/all of the arts and travel. I’m also influenced by the people I meet and what goes on in my everyday life. My images have been evolving more and more into work I can really call art. I love to find the beauty in everything/everyone I shoot. I am very passionate in the work I do and try to capture my subject from a different perspective.

Want to know a little more? . . .

I sew…

As the youngest of five sisters with a single mother I had the “luxury” of getting most of my sisters hand-me-downs. I made those work by tweaking up the clothes which is where my love for fashion and sewing came in. As a freshman in high school I learned how to sew in a fashion design class. I remember making my first outfit which was a small top and long pants set made in a silver stretchy fabric. The top was cropped and the pants where tight with wide legs. I gave it to my sister Maria (the second oldest) after a while of having it just sit in the drawer.

I sing… (and use to record music)

My love for music began way back to as far as I could remember. My family had so many get togethers and in those gatherings we would all get on the dance floor (which was majority of the time either the living room or kitchen) and danced all night. Those memories are priceless! I can also remember that cleaning days in our house, were the perfect days to push our vocal cords to the limit, (haha). My mother would sing along to La India, Marc Anthony, Jerry Rivera and much more. Luckily we lived in single family houses most of the times. But looking back I really feel bad for some of our neighbors the times we lived in a three family house because that music was always loud!

I want to say that my true passion for music was fully developed when I was about 10/11 yrs old. I had a lot of time to listen and sing my favorite music, and I would unapologetically. It was an amazing feeling within. I loved music so much. I can honestly say music was my first love. You would catch me in the living room singing and dancing to Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Selena, Stevie B, Tony Braxton, TLC, Boyz II Men etc. I mean the list goes on and on! I’d always sing along to the lyrics from the little booklets the albums came in.

In my mid-late teens I met Tyna, a good friend at the time who was very talented in singing and wanted to get into the industry as bad as I did. We clicked so well and decided to get together after some years as a duo called MC*TV. As friends, we had our moments and didn’t really get along/see eye to eye so we took a break for a while. In 2005 I gave birth to my beautiful rainbow baby Isaiah. A little after he was born Tyna and I reconnected after reconciling then continued where we left off. Most of my early 20’s we lived and breathed recording/creating music. We met and worked with so many artists/upcoming artists. In the midst of working on our music we got into the photography world.

The beginning of my photography…

My true love for photography started in 2009 when Tyna and I went halfsies on a Nikon camera. I had been laid off by Autotrader with a severance package and seen it as an opportunity to venture out into our own photography business, 2112 Photography. After working/collabing together for some time we then decided to part ways and work separately. Ergo Photos by KC was established in 2011 and then changed to Photos by Kat Concep or just Kat Concep.

Fast FWD>>> To now

I am currently engaged to my love/best friend/other half Michael and am a proud mother of an honor roll sophomore student. Living through this pandemic I’ve slowed my roll in shooting. I have been pretty busy with making and selling masks mainly on my etsy page www.etsy.com/shop/katsonlinecloset. The masks are also featured in my Kat$Closet tab above as well. I plan on making more content in the near future and taking my work to the next level. So stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed reading a little bit about my life and look forward to possibly working with you in the near future, if we haven’t already.

Xx,

Kat Concep
